To all who post here...
The phone numbers 214-969-5489 and 415-656-1073 do not refer to any one single pay phone in any one single location. They are most likely outbound trunk numbers of the long distance companies used by the individual pay phones.

When someone makes a coin paid long distance call from most COCOT pay phones, the pay phone does NOT dial the destination number directly. Instead it dials a toll-free number, listens for a 2nd dialtone, then dials the destination number. By doing this, the company that operates the pay phone will get cheaper long distance rates, but a major side effect of dialing calls this way is that the number of the pay phone will NOT be sent as the Caller ID. Instead callers will receive a 'generic' number that often can not be called back.

Please accept the fact that these numbers (214-969-5489, 415-656-1073, etc.) only indicate a call from some pay phone somewhere, not a specific pay phone location.

I got a call from my boyfriend and the number (# 570-323-9607) came up on my phone as a payphone. I asked him about it and he said it was a phone he keeps in his car. We did get cut off and when I tried to call him back at that number it rang once or twice and then there was a loud shrill sound and cut off. I've tried locating that payphone just to see where he called from because in no time he showed up to pick me up. Any way to locate where that payphone is located? I've been to several locations and stopped to read the payphone numbers and none match. ke I said, in just a matter of a minute or two, he was there to pick me up. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

905-338-9148 doesn't appear in the payphone.org listing at all yet I get calls at 1040pm to my home number, they ask for me and then hang up immediately...its not enjoyable..

I got a series of threatening phone calls from a pay phone that showed out of Las Vegas NV, I understand that the call probably came locally but how can I contact someone who owns the phone in vegas to try and track this down. Any suggestions

I have a crazy older lady whom I dated around ten years ago Laura Ross she keeps finding and calling my number. She lived in westminster now in a group home for schizophric and drug abuse.At her seperated husbands house in PG county. At a homeless shelter. On her own. In jail. Piont is- She is now threating my wife and kids!! She calls me from pay phone and the westminster, carroll county Maryland police and state troopers cant do anything? how can I trace her calls to see where she really is located, to file a police report?

Pay Phone accepts incoming call, but when I press key pad there is no tone. So, I downloaded a tone generator to netbook and placed receiver next to speaker. The tones were not recognized by the calling telephone. (Tested tone generator on a 'home' phone and it worked. Did not dial a number, just generated the tones.)

I am trying to have an incoming call ring a pay phone, then answer on first ring, then press two numbers or generate two numbers to complete a verification process.

It is almost like the payphone will not allow any voice or tone to go out after an incoming call is answered. Am I missing something?

After Extensive Research I have determined that 305 is the defualt area code for Miami-Dade County and the part of Monroe County that is in the Keys. Both of these locations are in Florida. Hope this helps.

In a past post I mis-identified area code two-one-two (212) as Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is actually the area code for New York City, New York. Philadelphia primarily uses area code two-one-five (215).

Here’s the problem. Twice now my girlfriend said she called me from a payphone after work. Both times when I dialed *69 it give me the same phone number. I then did a reverse look up of this phone number on 411locate.com. The website tells me that the phone number belongs to an apartment in Ocean Beach. This morning I asked my girlfriend about this and she insists that she called me from a payphone and not from someone’s apartment. I want to believe my girlfriend is telling me the truth.
